臺中市文化局自2008年起，為推動臺中音樂產業發展，鼓勵屬於在地原生創造力的樂團與獨立音樂創作者，希冀透過「搖滾臺中」這個文化創意整合平臺，與國內外優秀樂團觀摩交流，強化臺灣音樂的深度與廣度、深耕在地學生樂團，提升市民文化素養、促進文創音樂城鄉發展，活絡臺中的觀光產業，強化臺灣音樂產業在國際間的優勢競爭力。如今「搖滾臺中」這個屬於臺灣中部最知名、最代表性的搖滾音樂祭在2012末日預言後，在9月7日、8日在臺中市文心森林公園暨圓滿戶外劇場再度重生，引爆！
